MaggieMaggie van’t Hoff – General Manager, Retail IT, Shell

Maggie van’t Hoff is currently the General Manager of Retail IT. She joined Shell in 1987 and has spent 27 years in various IT positions including support, development, project management, business development, infrastructure service delivery, business interface, strategy & planning and IT management. She has worked in US, UK and the Netherlands across Downstream, Chemicals, Global Functions, Group CIO Office and Infrastructure.   In 2012 she was appointed to GM of Retail IT, where she is focused on driving value out of IT to enable Retail to achieve the ambitious business growth plans.

She is married to Graham, who also works for Shell, and has 3 young children. She enjoys travelling, snow skiing, sailing and spending time with her family. Maggie works 4 days per week and is a strong advocate for work life balance, in 2014 was named top 50 most powerful part time workers in the UK . She is President of the Shell Women’s Network in the UK, a former president of Shell Women’s Network in NL and an active mentor inside and outside of Shell.

Kate Russell – Technology Journalist, Presenter & Reporter, BBC Click

Kate Russell is a journalist, reporter, and author who has been writing about gaming, technology and the Internet since 1995. Best known for weekly appearances on the BBC’s technology programme she frequently appears on TV radio and in magazines as a technology expert, and also has regular columns in National Geographic Traveller and the BBC’s Focus magazines. She is the author of two books; Working the Cloud, a guide to using the internet in business; and Elite: Mostly Harmless, Kate’s debut science fiction novel set in the gaming world of Elite, which achieved over 400% of its funding goal on Kickstarter. In addition, Kate speaks regularly at technology events and conferences, and in schools and universities, inspiring the next generation of technologists. She is also very involved in UK and global policy meetings to help shape the way the internet is governed.

Mohit Sarvaiya leads Technology Infrastructure (TI) in the EMEA region. He is responsible for all regional TI requirements such as storage, network services, mid-range, datacentre, and Mainframe hosting. He also addresses stakeholder needs with respect to regulatory and risk management, client and customer management, talent management and employee engagement, and represents TI at the Technology & Operations EMEA Regional Technology Council. Mohit is co-chair of the Global Environmental Operations Group being responsible for ensuring the firm has the right strategy to maintain the bank’s leadership in reducing our environmental footprint, and is the executive sponsor for a global strategic programme focussed on reducing the volume of infrastructure consumed in order to achieve the bank’s best in class benchmark goal.

Mohit joined the bank in 1995 in Tokyo and relocated back to the UK in 2003.  During this period, he undertook a wide range of roles including Global Application Services and Release Management; Country Infrastructure head for Merrill Lynch Japan; and head of Data Centre Services in Europe.  In 2008, Mohit became the global head of Storage and Transmission Services where he was responsible for the storage and data transmission platform support & operations, and the bank’s datacentre recovery strategy. In December 2010, he then became the Global Markets Research & Technology (GMRT) Infrastructure Solutions executive and the Enterprise Change Technology & Operations Regional Lead.

Mohit graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering and has previously worked at Morgan Stanley and Citibank.

Steve Davies is a Managing Director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch; Head of Technology and Operations EMEA.

Since joining the bank in 2001, Steve has held a number of senior positions across operations including Co-Head of Global Securities, Head of Equity Operations and EMEA Global Markets Operations & Middle Office, Head of European Settlements, Head of Operations in Dublin and Global Head of Transaction Management.

Prior to joining the bank Steve held positions with GNI Limited, Lehman Brothers and Morgan Stanley in a variety of operations, finance, treasury & risk management roles.

As well as currently being a member of the bank’s Global Diversity & Inclusion council, Steve has just completed a five-year tenure as Co-Chair of the EMEA Diversity & Inclusion council. These D&I councils work to promote and build awareness of diversity and inclusion issues

Steve has a BSc in Business Economics and Accounting from Southampton University. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW).

BridgetBridget O’Connor – Global Markets Technology Executive, Bank of America Merrill Lynch

Bridget O’Connor is the Consumer Banking Technology & Operations Chief Information Officer for Bank of America Merrill Lynch. She leads a global team of employees providing support to serve the needs of more than 51 million consumer and small business relationships. Her team’s responsibilities range from deposit, card and mortgage products to call centres, and supporting 5,200 retail banking centres, 16,200 ATMs, 30 million active online customers and more than 14 million mobile users.

Bridget O’Connor joined the bank in 2010 from Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) where she was Managing Director and Chief Technology Officer responsible for overseeing the critical Information Technology infrastructure, including core networking services, processing and messaging systems, distributed systems and business continuity.

Prior to this, she spent 19 years at Lehman Brothers and held numerous technology management positions including CIO and Global Head of Business Continuity, CTO Global Head, e-Commerce Technology. Before joining Lehman Brothers, O’Connor worked as an applications architect for AT&T Bell Laboratories.

In 2013, Bank Systems and Technology named Bridget as one of the “2013 Elite 8” bank technology leaders. She also was named as one of the “100 Most Influential Women in NYC Business” in 2007 by Crain’s New York Business and has been noted as one of technology’s “Top Power Women” by Forbes.com.

ZephanieHardyPhotoZephanie Hardy – Senior Vice President, End User Computing (EUC), Technology Infrastructure, Bank of America Merrill Lynch

Zephanie (Zeph) is regional head of End User Computing, responsible for platform and productivity engineering, and project delivery. Zeph’s focus is on increasing the awareness and adoption of the communication, collaboration and mobility tools available to support internal clients operate  more productively and achieve their business objectives.,

Zeph has overall leadership responsibilities for the EUC product portfolio for over 15,000 regional users which is comprised of:
– Over 21,000 compute devices
– Over 4,500 virtual desktops
– Supporting the availability of remote access and mobility products
– Exchange and Active Directory
– Collaboration services such as WebEx, Chat and SharePoint

As the TI lead for Global Corporate Investment Banking, Zeph works closely with this line of business to manage technology challenges and ensure they have access to the right technology services and solutions at the right time to meet their business requirements.  

Vanessa Vallely SpeakerVanessa Vallely – Facilitation, CEO, WeAreTheCity

Vanessa Vallely is a recognized expert in person-to-person business networking and online branding, and is a sought-after facilitator and motivational speaker. In 2014, Vanessa was cited as one of the top 100 most connected women in the UK by GQ magazine. Vanessa is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience, and has delivered keynote speeches for over 100 companies across the globe.

Vanessa’s corporate experience includes a 25-year career in banking and finance technology, holding senior positions such as Chief Operating Officer, Technology Transformation, and Global Head of Operations & Technology Governance.
