Trainee needed, Energy Project Finance | City of London

Role Summary

Energy Project Finance is a core business for Global Banking & Investor Solutions pole of Societe Generale. For the last 20 years, we have been advising and lending to multi-billion projects across all energy downstream segments. Recently, the team was rated ‘Global Advisor of the Year’ by Project Finance International, and named ‘Best Project Finance House in Western Europe, Central & Eastern Europe and Africa’ by Euromoney.
The Paris and London teams cover Europe, Africa and the Middle East and work closely with our offices in the US and Asia.
Trainees assist in the origination and execution of project finance debt advisory and arranging roles across all types of downstream assets including: power generation, renewables, biofuels, refining, LNG, oil and gas pipelines, petrochemicals and fertilizers. They also assist senior members of the team in marketing and other general activities. The candidate will be working in a fast paced and demanding environment that requires an individual who has a strong interest in the energy industry and financial markets.

Main responsibilities
Your role:
1) Transaction support to the relevant deal team leader in the Energy team on advisory and arranging mandates, including:

• Financial modelling and analysis of financial projections
• Review of various due diligence reports
• Preparation of credit applications and other internal approval requests
• Preparation of presentations for clients and banks

2) Support for origination and marketing, including:

• Research on companies, market and industry trends; and
• Preparation of marketing documentation.

3) General support, as required, within Energy Project Finance, including contribution to effective teamwork within the global team and with other groups in the bank.

Education/Professional Qualifications
Penultimate or ultimate year from a top ranking business or engineering school. In the later case first degree in sciences, engineering or finance preferred from top ranking institutions (Masters degrees are preferred)

Languages

English (fluent, written and spoken)
Second language an advantage (esp French, Russian or Arabic)
