The report, concluded by Bond International Software, has shown that 72% of office workers have looked for a job within the last three years. Despite this, 38% of employers worldwide are struggling to fill vacant positions.

The Research,  undertaken on behalf of Bond International Software set out to discover the current state of the recruitment market from a candidates’ perspective. 1,000 UK office workers, ranging from non-management roles to C-level Executives, responded and the survey shown a surprising trend in how candidates might search for jobs.  Now, over a quarter of office workers have looked for a new job in the last six months, whilst 72% have looked in the last three years.

Online job sites are still the number one preference for job searching with 81% utilizing them to find their next job, whilst just 25% of candidates would use Social Media platforms when searching for a new job. Of the 25% of candidates using Social Media to job search, just 14% found it to be helpful. 51% of those surveyed use recruitment agencies, but just 31% believe that they would have the most up to date jobs

68% of those surveyed found online job sites to be the most helpful, clearly demonstrating that online job sites are still the number one starting point for most candidates.

In particular the lack of social media use… In a society that is increasingly dominated by social media, and the growth of LinkedIn, that is a shocking result that has very real implications for the way in which recruiters contact and attract candidates,”

Bond International Software’s survey concluded that 42% of office workers make use of LinkedIn for work related purposes and that one in ten candidates wouldn’t use social media to job search.
