Make informed choices
Choose the best option for you and you will be able to go out, indulge in your favorite foods, heaven forbid even overeat a little and still not feel guilty about inevitable weight gain. It’s crazy that the diet industries overly complicated latest trend has made this seem like the impossible dream when really it is so simple.
Prioritise what you really want
You’re having a slap up meal…Ask yourself, what is your favorite indulgence? Imagine that you really like desserty foods.
Choose the course/food that you really want to indulge in.
Say you love Christmas pudding…
So the bread and butter comes – should you go wild? No, exercise some self-control.
The starter menu – perhaps opt for something healthy.
Main – Nope you don’t want to finish your friends’ half plate of leftovers.
Dessert – Yes, now it is time to go wild. Have whatever you wish and enjoy it!
It’s really that simple. You’re going to eat multiple courses and you do NOT need to go wild on everything. You will be more than satisfied indulging in your favourite foods and eating normally the rest of the time.
According to the research eating just 1 piece of chocolate derives as much satisfaction as eating the whole bar does. You eat the rest because it is there and it’s hard to resist. It actually offers no greater benefit than that which you get eating just the first piece.
Preparation
We spoke about preparation through the rest of the day in Part 1.
You also want to prepare your mind. Choose in advance what you wish to indulge in and then make informed choices to have food that you enjoy without just binging for the sake of it.
Eat out without gaining weight
This might all seem a little anal, planning what you intend to eat and what have you…
Fact is, you have to take responsibility for you actions. Do you want to maintain and even improve your physique? Or do you let circumstances happen to you and allow yourself to be pushed back in to a cycle of no control, guilt, lack of self-belief and ultimately dissatisfaction and no results?
It’s honestly not hard. It just comes down to having the right mindset, which we will discuss in Part 3 of the series.
