For years, me, like many other people, placed my faith in the cosmetic industry & high street giants often blindingly placing on my skin all manner of lotions and potions without question; what I found was a cocktail of potentially harmful chemicals that with frequent long term use have linked to cancers and if a product promises to give you alluring youthfulness who wouldn’t use it frequently?
We often as consumers don’t read the small print or the ingredients but we need to change the way we think and buy beauty products not just how we shop for food – not only for the ingredients but also the quality of the ingredients!
In the 1960’s Professor Derek Bryce-Smith campaigned for leaded petrol to be removed as it was found to be toxic, it took until the early 80’s before his warning were acted upon, he believed that scientists had a duty to be socially responsible, I too feel an affinity with Professor Bryce – Smith and am on a mission, I created b2 because I wanted to make a product that was “the best of the best of the best” I was disappointed with so many companies who pertained to make “natural” products & who more often than not did not make their own extracts combining cheap ingredients made by other companies and/or laced with a cocktail of un-youthful ingredients, surely our skin is worth more than a few pence?
Having felt a lifelong affinity with bees and having written several papers on the plight of our bee population whilst studying my ecology degree. I left London favouring the tranquillity of the countryside, our gardens and apiaries, and began a journey into making natural skincare products utilising bee extracts from our hives, I wanted to get a real feel of how the bees work, the flowers they favour and why?
